Since 2005, MandarinRocks has been successfully hosting residential, day camp programs for primary school, middle school and college students coming from all over the world in this amazing city. These programs allow international youth to make friends their age from other countries, enhance Chinese language skills, acquire a profound understanding of the Chinese culture and lifestyle, and increase their awareness of a variety of world cultures. The past 2011 summer camp proved to be another consecutive success with more returning students! This year, MandarinRocks continues to offer this enriching opportunity for students aged 7 to 22 years old. In addition to our regular camp in the city center of Shanghai, we also offer you the new and exciting beach camp in the beautiful coastal resort Jingshan, an hour drive from the city. In both camps, with our great management, students' schedule will be well organized with a perfect balance of courses, sports, activities, cultural visits and trips, allowing them to have a deep insight into Chinese culture, improve Chinese rapidly and at the same time enjoy their summer vacations.

The Chinese language course is the most important component of our summer camp. There are 20 lessons every week, with 4 lessons every day, Monday through Friday. Each lesson is 45 minutes in length.. The maximum size of each class is limited to 10 (average 3-6) to ensure every student gets full attention from teacher and has ample time for practice. The carefully designed curriculum emphasizes conversation and communication, so that students may take full advantage of their surroundings and apply what they’re learning by speaking with friends during the rest of the day. The summer camp faculty is experienced in teaching young people of various ages and implements a wide array of techniques and activities that speak to every age group and learning type.
Activities
After morning language classes let out for the day, the afternoons are packed with a variety of activities, all designed be both age-appropriate and fun! We divide the summer camp afternoon activity program into four categories: city exploration, cultural workshops, sports and recreation. Every weekend students will explore a different city or interesting attraction near Shanghai with our camp counselors. These trips introduce students to the great diversity of Chinese culture and geography. In 2012, the travel destinations include two former capitals in Chinese history, Hangzhou and Suzhou, the famous ancient water town Qibao, the largest and best amusement park in China Songjiang Happy Valley and a unique "Agritainment" tour in Chongming island. .
Accommodation
Full camp students all live in safe, clean student accommodation. Accommodation is generally arranged based on gender and age. Students of same gender and close in age stay in together (double or triple occupancy in one standard dorm room, four in larger room). There are desk and chairs in the common area (also equipped with TV, broadband internet access, air conditioning, fridge and other basic facilities). Our camp staff stays with the junior students (7-15) during evenings and weekends throughout the whole program to take care of every personal need or concern that each student may have. Single room or special accommodation could also be arranged for students or families upon request. We organize transportation between accommodation site and school daily.
